QUESTION:  I have an 02 gsxr 600 and i just changed my front sprocket to 15 teeth and now my speedometer is WAY off. its says like 10 mph when im going 30 (for example) and it constantly bounces around, never holds steady. my friend has a 03 750 gsxr and he put the 15 on his front and his speedometer (while maybe less accurate) is holding steady and seems to work. am i stuck with a WAY off crazy speedometer or is there anything i can do to at least make it not bounce around so much? i feel like i broke my bike. its so bad off its not worth it, even thought i get great off the line speed. i was under the impression i would just lose top end speed. mine is so bad i might as well not have a speedometer. tell me is there anything i can do? than you. peterwaec@yahoo.com
ANSWER:  your speedo should be off you can use speedo healer to fix that but just fyi its not accouret to begin with.(the sprocket is not the problem) as for the speedo being "bouncy" check your battery terminal connection make sure they are tight, also check the speedo sensor on your sprocket cover make sure its stright and not not loose, make sure the pickup on the fr sprocket nut is in good shape and not broken, on your speedo there is a diagnostic check botton see if it will give you a reading as to what problem it senses(check with your suzuki dealer for the code). put a volt meter on your battary make sure the charging system is working properly. all the steps should tell you what the problem is so give it a try. good luck DRIVEN RACING
